Art Deco rug, handwoven in Tientsin, China during the second quarter of the 20th century.
This elegant rug features an asymmetric design composed of flowering branches, dainty blossoms, hanging lanterns and butterflies woven in blue, yellow, pink and green on a rich wine colored field. It is surrounded by a deep navy border with flower filled vases and a variety of auspicious symbols.
In good condition, with sarnok or areas of the cotton foundation visible (as pictured). Low pile, with a soft handle.
