This Ait Ouaouzguite rug was woven in the High Atlas mountains of Morocco during the middle of the 20th century.
It features a striking use of zigzags and diamonds in blues, browns, saffron and red that are both dizzying and oddly satisfying. It is composed of three panels and surrounded by three borders. The main panel showcases a central blue diamond containing an evil eye motif and pulsating concentric lines sets the tone and is framed nicely by two symmetrical which balance the whole. Embellishments like multicolored fringes and side selvedge really elevate its charm.
This rug is in great condition and has very little wear given its age, as pictured.
