This vintage Rya rug was woven in Scandinavia during the third quarter of the 20th century.
It features a minimalist circle design in lovely earth tones of gold, burnt orange, and brown in alternating bands of color. Rya rugs were woven with longer strands of yarn which gives them a high pile and their distinctly shaggy look and feel.
The rug model is called 'Kosmos' and was produced by Svängsta Mattväveri AB in Sweden. The company was active producing rugs from 1960-1976, when the company was sold and ceased production.
In excellent condition, signs of wear consistent with age. Pile is full and shaggy, with a sturdy handle.
