An exceptional 19th century Bidjar rug with a remarkable sense of color, clarity, and presence. Woven in the Kurdish weaving tradition, Bidjars are celebrated for their dense, durable structure. This is sturdy and strong while still being joyful, elegant, and beautifully drawn.

The composition centers on a bold medallion set within a warm coral-red field, surrounded by brilliant sky blue spandrels and a soft ivory center. The palette is especially striking with saturated blues, rose, coral, ivory, chocolate brown, and small accents of green and gold. Floral motifs, boteh forms, angular leaves, and delicate border work give the rug a lively, almost garden-like quality.

What makes this piece so special is the balance between village strength and decorative refinement. The drawing has the confidence and geometry of a tribal weaving, while the color and ornament bring a distinct grace. The border, with its rhythmic guard stripes and colorful outer crenellation, frames the field beautifully.

A rare and charismatic 19th century Bidjar in an unusually desirable long format that is richly decorative, deeply collectible, and full of life.
