This Soumak was woven in the Caucasus during the late 19th century. 

This striking piece is a masterclass in contrast. Structural yet supple and bold yet intricate. Woven in the complex weft-wrapping technique characteristic of the Soumak tradition, it showcases a dynamic interplay of serrated medallions, latch-hook forms, and meandering vine motifs and stylized fauna.

The flatwoven surface gives it a sculptural quality, with patterning that appears almost embroidered onto the foundation. Deep rusts, emerald greens, indigo, canary yellow, and softened ivories pulse across the field, framed by a border alive with angular geometry.

In very good with no visible wear. Has been professionally repaired in some areas which is nearly invisible.
