This Hanbel rug was handwoven during the middle of the 20th century in Morocco.
It was crafted on a silk foundation and features large bands of shimmering silk throughout. Horizontal rows of many different geometric shapes span the length of the rug. Maroon, red ivory and silky purple and gold make up the majority of this rug, with long braided silk tassels on either end. Remains of once bountiful metal sequins can be found throughout, dispersed on some of the rows.
Wear is consistent with age.
