Mid-century handwoven Swedish kilim, designed by Ingegerd Silow.
Silow was an important Swedish designer and weaver, active during the mid-20th century, considered by many to be Scandinavia's Golden Age of design. Her designs have become highly collectible over the years.
This particular kilim is composed of a repeating geometric design, woven with marled yarn, which softens the color and gives it depth. The color palette is kept simple, with lighter and darker blues accented by white and shades of grey. The whole is framed by a simple large blue border, and smaller darker blue border. Braided fringe at both ends complete the rug.
In excellent condition, signs of wear consistent with age. Flatwoven, with a sturdy handle.
