This Tabriz rug was handwoven in northwest Iran during the second quarter of the 20th century.
It features the so called "Mostofi" design of alternating floral wreaths and pinwheel like scrolling vinework on a navy ground. The kaleidoscopic design is fun, formal and festive all at the same time.. A wonderful combination of whimsical inspiration and crisp execution. Nicely framed by tightly rendered red main border of alternating palmettes on a scrolling vine.
In excellent condition, with little to no wear and a low sturdy pile with a hefty handle.
