This Caucasian rug was handwoven in Daghestan during the second quarter of the 20th century.
It features a large navy and yellow central rosette surrounded by a variety of polychrome rosettes on a deep Soviet red field. A few abstracted mythological birds flutter near the center around 8 pointed stars. It is framed by a lovely carnation border.
