Each pair of hexagons is separated by bands of geometric shapes added in perfectly imperfect asymmetric fashion giving the composition a dynamic visual rhythm while the vibrant borders add welcomed balance and refinement. If you look closely you will find the inclusion of two camel like figures

This Shirvan rug was woven in the Caucasus during the late 19th century.

It features three powerful leshgi stars on an earthy red ground full of various rosettes and protection symbols.  Encapsulated by multiple individualized borders including rosettes, sunbursts, and calyx and serrated leaves. A very handsome palette of blues, reds, greens and aubergine is accentuated by glowing coral and orange among other tones.

Ningxia Rug circa 1800 composed of a central mandala flanked by four smaller medallions over an intricate diamond lattice repeat. With a classic Ningxia palette that includes two shades of blue, brown, ivory, mauve and a desirable imperial yellow ground. The main border design features floral motifs on a mauve ground. The inner minor borders features a Greek key motif and the outer perimeter border features bands of both blue tones.
