18th century Central Anatolia This piece captures moments of the field, main border and the skirt lappets. All of the components necessary to envision how the piece would appear in it's original glory. The wonderful and stunning tones have survived over 200 years and still feel electric. This Shahsavan rug was during the 19th century.  The octagons and ground are full of various protection symbols, flora and fauna and geometric shapes. Framed by a main border of talish rosettes on an ivory ground that is flanked by bent ribbon minor borders. Excellent use of color and contrast give the border wonderful movement and dimension. This Antique Serapi Rug features the classic Heriz layout with a graphic geometric central medallion. Great quality 19th-century Heriz rugs are often referred to as Serapi.
