Beshir Turkmen rug handwoven along the Amu Darya river in Central Asia.  It features one large central medallion and four smaller medallions on the top and bottom of this wide and narrow format which is common for type. The medallions sit at an all over design of an abstracted herati variation with wide leaves, rounded rosettes and arrow like forms. various borders of tulips, evil eyes and eight pointed rosettes.

This Ersari Turkmen rug was woven during the first quarter of the 20th century in Northern Afghanistan.  It features a traditional Ersari gül design with a soft palette of orange and indigo on an earthy madder red ground with accents of natural undyed brown and ivory wool. The more skeletal secondary güls are nice complement to the fuller main guls and give the field a more open feel.

This Torba was handwoven by Tekke Turkmen Turkmenistan during the early 20th Century.  This trapping features a design of eight aina güls in earthy red, browns ivory and navy. Framed by a multitude of borders that include zigzags, flowers, diamonds and serrated leaves. A torba is a small storage used to both transport and store belongings that is similar to a chuval but not as deep. Polychrome knotheads remain of what were once long fringes.

This trapping features an all over design of stepped diamonds in alternating earthy red and deep navy which is tightly rendered to hypnotic effect. macrame fringes that alternate between madder red and indigo. Likely made to hang on the wall or for a pack animal.

This trapping was handwoven by Ersari Turkmen around Middle Amu Darya in Central Asia during the 20th Century. The Ersari weavings from this region in this style are often referred to as Beshir. Features ikat-inspired güls in earthy reds, ivory, yellow, and navy. wonderful hanging fringe which alternates between madder red and deep indigo. Likely made to hang on the wall or for use on a pack animal. The top is finished with lovely brocaded embellishment.

19th century Timuri Baluch rug composed of a wide prayer format often seen in early Timuri rugs. The blue ground mihrab contains a tree of life motif. Some of the serrated leaves on the tree are woven with apricot and aubergine silk. The main border is composed of hexagons with hooked geometric shapes. Outside of the small touches of colorful silk the color palette is subdued and limited to reds, blues, and oxidized browns.
