This Sultanabad was handwoven in Western Iran during the early 20th century.   It features a central medallion that floats on an open and expansive golden camel ground. The field is bare other than the medallion and four cornices each mimicking a mirorred quadrant of the medallion. Framed by a main border of scrolling vegetation in pink, green, ivory and gold on an icy blue ground.  Well-balanced with a desirable palette in a hard to come by size.

This pictorial; rug was handwoven in China during the second quarter of the 20th century.   It features a rendering of the Eight Immortals sitting atop cloudbands and amongst vegetation. These famous figures are signs of prosperity and longevity and can be represented in many different manners and often including deities or attendants as seen here. The Each immortal holds an object to identify themselves such as a flute (Han Xiangzi) or a lotus flower (He Xiangu).

This Gabbeh rug was handwoven in Southern Iran during the 20th century.  It features is a lion holding a saber in front of the sun which the classic national symbol of Iran. Following the Islamic revolution in Iran, this symbol was replaced on the national flag. Here the lion is rendered in orange with a full mane against a red background which has faded through 2/3 of the rug leaving the remaining third more saturated. A mohawk top white sun peeks over it's back.

Antique Persian Khamseh area rug featuring three connected latch-hooked medallions filled in a rare and quite spectacular palette of bright orange and lively seafoam green that really pop against the navy field. Feng shui The pictorial rug was handwoven in Mongolia during the early 20th century.  It features a mirrored design of a stag under a tree with a crane and bat flying above. The stag represents well-being, while the crane symbolizes a long life and the bat prosperity. The color palette is minimal with ivory, dark and light blues. The whole is framed by a tightly rendered fret border.

Antique Bengal Kantha featuring a wild and asymmetrical scene with a small off-center mandala. It is full of various motifs from fish, horses, elephants, and people. The people can be seen in pairs stacked on top of one another, riding a horse and an elephant as well as inside a Vimana or flying palace. The whimsical borders add to the wonderful chaos as they completely shift from large floral symbols to rosettes and eventually to triangles in different sections.

This Hadji Jalili Hunting Tabriz features a classic hunting motif against a backdrop of scrolling arabesques on a desirable burnt orange ground that is highly characteristic of Hadji Jalili weaving. This Three Elephant Kantha features a main panel with a central flower surrounded by organic flowering vines and free-flowing running stitches.
