This Hamadan rug was handwoven during the second quarter of the twentieth century.
It features a well-proportioned Herati-patterned field on an abrashed navy ground. The coral-red spandrels are decorated with angular vinery and stylized blossoms that lighten the composition and create a pleasing contrast with the darker field. It is framed by a traditional Hamadan border set composed of an ivory main border with linked floral cartouches, sandwiched between subtle blue guard borders.
In very good condition with some wear across the field consistent with age and use, and retaining a soft, velvety pile.
