This cotton dhurrie was handwoven in Bikaner jail in Rajasthan during the turn of the 20th century.
It features a series rows of deep navy and bright white stripes which feather at each end in the central panel. Two skirt panels feature smaller alternating white and navy stripes broken up by two bright indigo blocks. These rugs were part of prison reform beginning in 19th century India.
In Very Good condition, some wear on the fringes.
