This Afshar rug was handwoven during the second quarter of the 20th century.
It features an all-over design that is a variation of a herati pattern. The boxy abstracted flowers are rendered in red, orange and turqouise hues on a midnight blue ground. Very figures and talismans can be found hidden amongst the field including a person on horseback and what appears to be the word "Shiraz" written in arabic script.
In very good condition with some wear through the middle.
