This Ersari Turkmen rug was woven during the first quarter of the 20th century in Northern Afghanistan.  It features a traditional Ersari gül design with a soft palette of orange and indigo on an earthy madder red ground with accents of natural undyed brown and ivory wool. The more skeletal secondary güls are nice complement to the fuller main guls and give the field a more open feel.

This Ersari Turkmen rug was woven during the first quarter of the 20th century in Northern Afghanistan.

In good condition for its considerable age, with wear throughout but to the foundation in some areas and one small hole (as pictured). Low pile, with a soft and airy handle.
