This Soumak was handwoven in the Caucasus during the second quarter of the 20th century.
This Soumak features three powerful medallions on an undulating aubergine field. The rest of the palette is composed of vibrant tones of red, cobalt, and hunter-green. The main border is composed of abstracted palmettes. Nicely finished with the original braided wool fringe.
In very good condition, with areas of wear and one small hole. Flatwoven, with a solid handle.
